The Picasso Project

Did you know that the city that birthed Duke Ellington, Sun Ra, Will Smith, Patti LaBelle, Jill Scott, the Roots…has cut music and art from most of its public schools? Continuing her work with arts and communities through MusicalSolutions, Gretchen has joined the Picasso Project at Philadelphia Citizens for Children and Youth to try to bring arts back into public school students' lives. The Picasso Project recently awarded $20,200 in grants to fund innovative projects in 5 Philadelphia schools at an award ceremony hosted by the African American Museum in Philadelphia. Musical Solutions

Through experiential teaching, curriculum design, consulting and project coordination, MusicalSolutions works towards each program’s individual goals with a collaborative, creative approach. Some examples of MusicalSolutions work include the drumming and math project Drum Logic, the drumming and community building project DrumNow! , and music and conflict resolution workshops for OST students and teachers.
